How do you get someone to stop smoking?
I want my dad to stop smoking, he smokes about a pack a day which I am certain is NOT GOOD. My whole family is stressed, any good ways? I feel like I have tried everything, even if he is relatively a good dad.

I’m sure he knows about how bad it is but when i was in elementary school they taught us about how bad it was. First tell him all the risks then if that doesn have any affect sho what it does to the lungs. To show this follow these steps.
1- Get three gallon bags and two pieces of steak (similar meat)
2- Put one steak in the first bag and set it aside
3- with the second steak put it in the second bag and add any powder/ food color thats black
4- shake the bag
Note- make sure to coat the whole thing and make it disgusting looking
5- get the now black steak and put it in the last bag
okay now with the bags show your dad the clean steak first telling him what your lungs should look like then pull out the black “lung” tell him this is what his resembles or looks like and how bad it is.
in my mall there are these things that resemble the cigaret but it just produces steam.Its supposed to look the same and seem the same. Not sure if it taste the same. Anyways try to see if he is willing to try those.

I understand your concerns about your dad smoking..And…Your dad is fully aware of everyone’s disapproval and concern. Quitting smoking is not an easy task and he will quit Only when he is ready. I would suggest laying off ragging on him about it and the rest of the family needs to chill out about it too.
Quitting is not as simple as,”It tastes like cake so I’m going to keep smoking.” When quitting you go through withdraw. Basically you get the following symptoms: Throwing up, shaking, stomach aches, insecurity, etc. It’s physically painful to stop.
Sorry to hear that man, but I smoke about ten cigarettes a day and with even that it is really tough for me to quit, and besides its his choice to quit not yours, the electronic Cigs don’t work they don’t give u the same feeling at all, I’ve tried gum but it only fixes the craving till your done chewing and after that you need a Cig, wat I’ve done is take the biggest hits possible and smoke A LOT at once I mean smoke a pack, like smoke a cig one after another non stop till the packs empty, ugh I felt so sick it was terrible, I couldn’t even look at a cig without my stomach hurting, it worked for about two weeks till my friends got me to smoke again, I wouldn’t be smoking right now if it wasn’t for them, I’d try and get your dad to do that if he really wants to quit, that’s how some people quit drugs, they get thereselves sick to the drug so they can’t do it without throwing up, and essentially they quit, good luck man and I hope he quits

First of let him know you are worried if he is about to go on the computer open up a web page about the health risks of smoking
then maybe try talking to him in a calm way
if he does agree then you need to encourage him to do more things that will make him feel happy (release dopamine) dopamine is a chemical that is released in your body when you do something that makes you feel happy, when you smoke this is release into your body, this along with nicotine is what keeps you addicted because the smoker wants to keep feeling happy so they smoke more and more explain this to him so then he can understand a bit more why he is craving it.
some dangers of smoking are your oxygen levels decrease because carbon monoxide (a toxic chemical) replaces it in your blood stream, and tar can get into you lungs that makes ‘gas exchange’ less efficient so your body won’t be able to get oxygen in and carbon dioxide out very easily so you will have a bit too much bad chemicals from air in your body

That is great you want to help him stop smoking! I think sublimal programming is the most effective way to quit. I don’t recommend cold turkey because most people can’t handle that method.
