Is it a waste of money to include $75 million for stop smoking programs, when Obama still smokes?

How many jobs will that create, What say you?

It is a waste and will create zero jobs. as a matter of fact if it succeeds a lot of farmers will be out looking for work..

Your question is not clear. What does one person’s smoking – even if he is the president – have to do with stop smoking programs? There is no logic to the linking of the two.

Why the heck does it matter if Obama himself smokes? That doesn’t magically stop others from stoping smoking, I promise.

Obama is a hypocrite. Obama hasnt paid for a pack of cigarettes in years. Tobacco lobbyists send him a SUV stretch limo every month packed with boxes of cartons of Newports and women in bikinis covered in malt liquor to unload them into his residence with rap blaring from the pimped out stereo

Obama quite smoking a long time ago.

Since smoking programs will actually be looking for people to work for them, it’ll actually create quite a few jobs. I use common sense when i post and people still don’t like what I say….amazing

Interesting. Especially since they passed the SCHIP, which relies on increase in cigarette taxes for funding. It’s estimated that we will need 20 million more smokers to fund the program as it is – now we’re spending $75 million to decrease something that we need more of? I love the Federal government – it makes soooo much sense!

Its not a waste of money. Smoking drives our health care costs up. Obama has quit smoking. If there are programs to help stop smoking..obviously someone has to run them, administer them.

    Please stop whining.

I’m glad you point out that part of the stimulus bill, because the SCHIP legislation passed last week is being funded specifically by a cigarette tax. Are Democrats trying to kill their own Special Children’s Health Insurance Program bill?

If people want to quit, there are plenty of programs for them to use.

I am having a problem understanding why it is the federal government’s job to fund a stop smoking program. The federal government has some very pressing responsibilities right now and I don’t think that concerning themselves with whether citizens make the personal choice to smoke is one of them.
