How long after stopping smoking does it generally take for mood swings to stop?
and just general apathy. I feel so apathetic after stopping smoking now, it has been 2 1/2 weeks so far.
Thanks for your answers!
you are doing great … I found around 3 weeks I was past the craving stage ..just remember it’s important that anything you feel after the cravings are gone is almost just …HABIT so find a simple way to overcome that but don’t give up now! you are past the worst of it …I found by putting the money that I would have spent on them into a box and at the end of every week I count it and then by the end of the month I would buy something for the home, my car, or for myself…that was a great incentive for me…wishing all that is good.

I dunno – I always get to day 21-23 and become a suicidal/homocidal maniac until I smoke about 6 in a row….
Havent been able to quit yet….

It varies from person to person. If you eat more fresh fruit that would help your general well being.
Good for you for having stopped for over two weeks….keep up the good work.
I went from 40 a day to nothing overnight, haven’t had a ciggie since and that was back in 1982….if I can do it then so can you!

Just hang in there, it really will get better. Think of the extra money in your pocket. Of course, seeing my dad with throat cancer is enough to keep me from ever smoking again!

heard somewhere about the 3′s. 3 minutes cravings, 3 days and you may start smoking again, you are nearly at 3 weeks so the novelty is wearing off. I’d guess about 3 months. I’d say, well done indeed and will be joining you once my cheap baccy of 4 pouches runs out.

It does depend on the individual BUT it gets a little bit better every day. It’s like the days getting longer, you don’t really notice it and then one day you realise it’s light when you get home from work.
What you must do is take pride in your achievement. No, don’t go round shouting it from the hills – just think it in your mind. Every day your resolve will get stronger as the need gets less.
It’s hard my friend but hang on in there, it’s worth it in the end.
and yes, I did stop smoking and yes, it was hard!

Well, my mum’s not smoked now for 5 1/2 months and she still has them, but she had been smoking for 35 years…
She can be a real bitch and she knows it!
Sorry, I’m sure that wasn’t what you wanted to hear, but stick with it!!
