I underwent hypnotherapy to stop smoking and it worked so how how can they say smoking is addictive?

I did it in Aug. and have had no urges since and I smoked for over 30 years. I don’t see how they can really be addicive, what do you think? I think it’s more habit

well it doesnt work for all people
    smoking is ADDICTIVE
or else you wouldnt have done that

  • Max Z says:

Addictiveness is a state of mind before being a physiological state. So people on crack can get cured in days. People addicted to coke or coffee may never be cured.
Yes there is a physiological aspect that makes the curing harder or easier but to get cured you must believe in yourself then have the will to pursue it.
    congratulations

Obviously you were “addicted” or you would not have needed hypnotherapy.

i think something society completly oversees is how powerful our minds our. Mind over matter. If you ever experiment with hallucinogenic drugs, you will quickly realize this. Now though your on the right track with quitting by the half life of the radiation particles that is in tobacco last 30 years or so. So your chances of getting lunger cancer are very very high right now even though you quit.

Check out this article about some very interesting things you could be doing to help you now that you quit.

    Congrats by the way.

IT IS PARTLY A HABIT, SOMETHING TO DO WITH YOU HANDS, MOUTH ETC. YOUR BODY BECOMES ‘TRAINED’ TO SMOKE. BUT… THERE ARE MANY CHEMICALS THEM TO MAKE THEM PHYSICALLY ADDICTIVE TOO – ONE BEING NICOTINE…

Nicotine is an alkaloid found in the nightshade family of plants (Solanaceae), predominantly in tobacco, and in lower quantities in tomato, potato, eggplant (aubergine), and green pepper. Nicotine alkaloids are also found in the leaves of the coca plant. Nicotine constitutes 0.3 to 5% of the tobacco plant by dry weight, with biosynthesis taking place in the roots, and accumulates in the leaves. It is a potent neurotoxin and is included in many insecticides.

In lower concentrations, the substance acts as a stimulant and is one of the main factors responsible for the dependence-forming properties of tobacco smoking.

BY GOING THROUGH HYPNOSIS – THEY BASICALLY TRICK THE ‘CHEMICALS’ IN YOUR BRAIN BY TELLING THEM YOU ARE NO LONGER ADDICTED, OR IF YOU TRY TO SMOKE THE FLAVOR WILL MAKE YOU SICK ETC. ETC.

HOPE THAT HELPS A LITTLE BIT.

    CHEERS AND CONGRATS!

Hypnotism is works on the Hypothalamus. It re routes what it has trained the brain to do. The Hypothalamus puts out peptides serotonin and protein inhibitors these are what cause us to act a certain way. It is what causes us to fall in Love and to become addicted. This is why your addiction is broken. If you are un-hypnotized it will come back. Cigarettes have nicotine and it is an addictive substance. It works on the serotonin of the brain. Hypnotism works before the serotonin is emitted. This is why it is effective.
So it is like you shut off the the valve that was putting out the serotonin that was causing the addiction triggered from nicotine.

    smoking is addictive
    even more so than heroin
hypnotherapy does not work for everyone
it only works if you want to stop smoking, and you want to be hypnotised
it is also a habit that is really hard to break
