How many women here had to quit smoking because they became pregnant?
How did you manage to quit? I am a smoker and want to quit before I start trying, any recommendations?

I did, the minute I found out I was pregnant.
Once I thought about a baby being in there, I couldn’t do it.
It still sounds good once in awhile but I just can’t do that to my baby.
I imagined being in a tanning booth smoking a cigarette is how my baby would feel.
Good luck , and good for you wanting to quit
I quit before hand, I cut back by half for a few days then by half again and so forth until I was no longer a smoker.
my sister quit and then only socially smoked and the build up to her wedding she did too, when she found out she was pregnant she hasn’t touched one since she says she wants one, but wont while she has the Baby inside her
Think of how bad you want a child use that for motavation than buy lots of gum keep your mouth busy and yourself busy for three to four days. The cravings will be bad at first but after a few days it get way easier.
i quit as soon as I knew I was preggers.. actually I had one more that night but felt so guilty I had no desire to have anymore. My hubby quit two weeks later. I went cold turkey with no help and had no problems with withdrawl but my husband tried to smoke herbal cigarettes.. his theory was to quit the nicotine first rather than the habit.. he told himself he could have as many herbals as he wanted to.. he had like 3-4 the first two or three days and then like 1-2 for a few days and then was done with them because he came to realize they were just gross smelling. and he told himself he couldn’t go back to smoking because each day was hard to get through but the next day was easier and why the heck would he want to put himself through this torture again. Neither one of us have ever smoked again. The baby thing is a good motivator! Best wishes to you! EDIT: herbal cigarettes were purchased from a health food store, for like $5-7 CAD about 3.5 years ago
i’ve never smoked, and i haven’t been pregnant (im 14) but i think its awsome that some many of you did stop.
hope you can do it, too!
I just quit, I knew I had a baby growing inside me and smoking would affect its growth and development. I found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks and I haven’t has one since and my daughter is now 4 months old. Just knowing that your going to have a growing baby inside you should be incentive enough to quit, but I did have some friends that had to take some pills to help them. Good luck!
Believe it or not I substituted smoking with eating crushed ice. I especially smoked at night because I worked during the day and no one I worked with knew I smoked anyway so when I would get home instead of smoking I would eat crushed ice. Even bought an ice crusher, ha-ha.
it is easier to quit once you become pregnant rather than beforehand i don’t know what it is but it has happened to every pregnant woman i speak to. in the first month every time you try and smoke it is horrible and it completly turns you off from ciggeretts it like a defence mechinism that your body has and it makes it very easy to quit hope this helps and good luck
i quit after i found out i was pregnant, but i had to just cut back and gradually quit.
pregnancy does give you motivation to quit, and it’s great that you are quitting before getting pregnant!
good luck!
well i smoked ciggerettes and the way i stopped is cus i always got sick i couldnt smoke cigg.but now im bout ta have my csection this monday and i cant wait til i get home from the hopsital and light one up…lol
My Dr. told me not to quit. Quitting causes stress and will harm the baby. So I cut back to 5-7 a day. The result. 3 pregnancies, 3 big and healthy babies. All because I listened to my Dr. His advice benefited my children.
