    None.

You don’t stop smoking gradually. You either smoke, or you don’t smoke.

Why is it so difficult for people to understand this? And don’t tell me that I don’t understand, because I used to smoke and I simply quit.

If you can’t develop the will to stop doing something that kills you, then you’re pretty hopeless.

Dlobo is right. You’re either a smoker or not. I’m a smoker and have given up in the past and never cut down, it doesn’t work that way. You have to be determined to succeed. Good luck with it:)

Going “cold turkey” is considered to be the one of the most successful way to stop smoking.

It seems that it takes only one or two weeks of cold turkey to be cured but few have the ability to do that.

Self-hypnosis is reported to have the highest success rate.

If simply stopping does not work for you, try reducing by one, the number of cigarettes that you smoke, each day, until you are down to zero.

By quiting smoking? Do you mean all smoking? I am not giving up my chronic for that. Anything else no problem.

A lot of people here are screaming “either you quit or you don’t”. That’s absolute nonsense; you’re doing the right thing by reducing the amount you smoke gradually. Actually, it’s known as the “gradual reduction” method, rather appropriately named. Kudos to you for working on it!

  • Emma says:

There are a lot of different approaches of quiting. There is a famous saying – “The best way to stop smoking is to just stop – no ifs, ands or butts”. ~Edith Zittler
Although if you don’t have enough willpower to quit cold turkey, just plan. For example – “today I can smoke not more than 3 cigarettes.” Just be ready to face smoking withdrawal symptoms and learn how to fight with them!

You can start by reducing by one cigarette for about 3 weeks and then reduce it again by one cigarette for another 3 weeks. Check out this site for more info.

two – one in the morning and 1 in the evening.
