How do I get my dad to quit smoking?
About 6 years ago my dad had a stroke due to his excessive smoking. After that he went cold turkey and quit ever since. It was only recently that he started smoking again because he broke up with his new girl friend. He smokes about a pack a day and I’m really worried about his health. So if you have any ideas that would be great.

get him an electronic cigarette, it delivers nicotine so he’ll get what he wants, also provides the stimulus of holding a cigarette and delivers non of the toxic chemicals. or you could try talking to him and tell him that he’s risking another, more serious stroke if he continues.
easy. just catch him not looking and throw his cigs away. He’ll get tired of having to keep buying them over and over again when they mysteriously disappear. Cigs are too expensive to try to keep buying and never getting to use them
Once you have had your first stroke there is a very strong likelihood that you will have further strokes later on and to resume smoking after a first stroke is a perfect recipe for triggering off further strokes in the very near future.
If you convey that information to your dad perhaps he could quit cold turkey like he did before. If he doesn’t he will undoubtedly get further strokes very soon.
