Oh gosh – that’s tough! I’m so sorry! My concern is greater than the issue of not smoking in the house. The problem with smokers is they are always “gassing off” even if they never smoke in the house. Recent research finds carcinogens all over the house – everywhere – if a smoker simply lives there and never smokes in side.

This makes anyone living with them what we call third hand smokers. This puts anyone living in the house at a medical risk. Make sure your doctor knows you live with a smoker – and if you have children, be sure to tell the pediatrician.

Air cleaners do NOTHING. Don’t waste your money.

    I hope he quits…

I JUST stopped smoking in the house after repeated requests from roommates. 2nd as well as 3rd hand smoke can be very dangerous to your health because it can cause cancer. Try pulling up and presenting him with the hazards of this. I am not much of a counselor beyond this advice here, But i pray you can get this taken care of because its dangerous.

This sounds more like a marriage counseling problem. I would get a squirt gun and whenever he lights up see how many times shot it takes to extinguish it. For fun, try from different distances. What more can we realistically tell you?

This is my issue, also. I have asked my husband so many times to please stop smoking in the house. We have two kids and sometimes my dad who has bronchitis may come over and the last thing I want is for him to get “sick” of coming to my house. Our clothes stink, the car stinks, the smell burns my nose. He doesn’t listen. Help me.

The following tips to reduce from smoking will help you succeed.

1 . No more social smoking.

2 . Substitute other activities for smoking.

3 . Cut down the number of cigarettes you smoke. Smoke only half of each cigarette.

4 . Don’t think of NEVER smoking again. Practice going without cigarettes.

5 . Avoid places and situations where you normally smoke.

6 . Exercise. It will take your mind off smoking, make you feel better, and keep you healthy.

7 . Buy lots of carrots, celery and other healthy foods so you can munch instead of smoke.

8 . Don’t drink alcohol. Alcohol will likely lower your willpower and increase your chances of having a cigarette.
