How can I convince my husband to quit smoking?

I quit in october. He sounds terrible coughing in the morning. He smokes a pack or more a day. I dont want to watch him kill himself! He has no desire to quit. Any ideas to get him to consider quitting?

Show him some picture before and after smoking.
Show him a picture of what a lung looks like ,after 20 years of smoking.He’ll quit!
I don’t think he will quit unless HE wants to. My husband smoked for over 30 years, 3-4 packs a day. We just recently got out of the hospital. He now has Lung Disease, COPD, and on 3 Liters Of Oxygen. Sorry Honey, But he will only quit if he wants too.
if he wont quit for himself… have him quit for you… if that doesn’t work it’s a lost cause
Take him to the city morgue (sounds morbid) but show him first hand the effects of killing yourself from smoking. Its a slow suicide.
Just keep talking to him about the benefits of not smoking.Let him know how much better you feel.Dont push him it will only make him stress about it.He has to decide to quit on his own.
Here is what I did, I threw all of my husband’s cigarettes away.
He was pissed off, but I told him the same thing you are saying. I did not want to nurse an old guy with emphysema when we both get old. I wanted a partner who could keep up with me!!!
So throw those cancer sticks away and DUCK!
I really hope this or something helps, my hubby did quit but he said that it was the hardest thing he ever did in his life.
You can’t convince him to quit smoking. He needs to want to quit and take the necessary steps that will work for him. The worst thing you can do is nag him, though. You used to smoke, so LIVE AND LET LIVE. LET GO AND LET GOD. I’m sure when you were smoking, you would not like to preached at continuously, right??????
It is like this: Can you teach a person who does not want to another language? What makes you think you can make your husband quit smoking? Who convinced you? Could you have doen it, if you did not decide for yourself you wanted to quit?
Maybe he needs time? You can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it drink!!!!
well if he wont quit,(you cant make anyone do something they do not want to ) you can offer him Myrrh Gumm pills ( you can buy at walmart)and this will clear his lungs out and coughing , it really helps , it help my mom with mild emphysema and it is no longer there doctors where amazed . Anyhow ask him go outside to smoke because you do not want to smell it as you stopped and it makes it hard on you or to one room, this may help him decrease how much he smokes as well ,having to go outside.
Sorry to say, but he’ll only quit when he is truly ready to quit for himself. You can always try to convince him otherwise but when he’s ready, he’s ready. Patches, gum, etc. won’t even help unless he wants to quit. You never know, maybe what you’re doing now will slowly help convince him it’s a killer.
1st of all tell him why u stoped smoking.
if he doesn’t listen show him pictures of lung cancer,and tell him that is what is going to happen to him if he continues, and if he stills smokes take him to a doctor and ask the doctor to scan his lungs when he sees how his lungs look like than there is a possibility that he WILL stop smoking.

Tobacco closes up the veins needed for sex Can’t breath well enough for sex

Tell him that if he doesn’t quit you are going to place chicken shit in his cigarettes.
stop cooking, cleaning, and sex. give him a ultimatum. buy him the gum and the patch. get him to at least to try.
sorry, to hear about your husband,but you cant do anything,he has to do it on his own.but if you keep nagging at him,he will smoke that much more.if he doesnt want to quit,he wont.ill tell you something that might work,put a horse hair in 1 of his cigarettes,it will make him so sick,he will think hes dieing.it wont kill him,but he will think it is.
bar him from sex. and when he quits reward him greatly.
