Has anyone quit smoking after being addicted to cigarettes for years?
I am planning on quitting smoking? Any advice?
What method did you use?
How did you handle other smokers?
What did you do when you had a craving?
Thanks

I used nicotine gum for the first week or so just to get past the worst of the cravings and then went cold turkey.
It takes about 3 weeks for physical cravings to go away completely, but it helped me not relapse to remember that the longer you hold out, the easier and faster it passes. If you cheat, the process starts all over again.
After awhile, if I had a craving, I had a piece of regular gum or drank a glass of water.
Also, exercised when I had a craving. Can’t smoke and exercise hard at the same time.
yes i quit smoking cold turkey after having a triple bypass which happened on Easter Sunday of last year which was 2009. It was very hard after i got over the operation. I didn’t think of it when i got out because i was in too much pain. I still crave it now and then but not too much. And then i said i was going to start back, yeah right lol not on my life i won’t. And then ten months later i found out i had kidney cancer. I had to have my left kidney remove. So since i had my bypass i have a breathing problem, can’t walk to fast up or down steps no housework,or no activities, two weeks ago i start having problems with my hip, some luck huh. All i can say is to quit and enjoy life because you never know when the lord is going to call you home. I know i enjoy everything now even more so, I love life it self. Good luck in quiting i hope you do it. it’s very very hard but you can do it, Bless you
The key to successfully quitting is…
“TO NOT HAVE ONE MORE” and nicotine is the hardest thing to quit.
But it was well worth it. Just make sure that “YOU MEAN IT” and no matter what …dont light up.
Find something to keep your hands busy.
Good Luck
Yes, but be aware of …
- No one can quit if not entirely convinced (by him/her-self) to do so.
- There’s no best nor easy way to quit.
- Everyone is different in the way they stop smoking.
- What worked for someone might not work for others.
- The only way to tell if any given method works or not for someone is to try it.
- Anything to stop that habit is worth it.

The site has a poor design but its contents is very reach.
Sure. I strongly recommend Chantix, it’s far and away the best stop smoking med. But different things work for different people. There are other stop smoking meds if Chantix doesn’t work out, and joining groups and hypnosis can be effective too.
