Did you quit smoking when you found out you where pregnant?

I’m 7 weeks pregnant and I thankfully quit smoking 8 months ago. It was very difficult for me to stop, there was probably a month where I smoked, didn’t smoke, smoked, didn’t smoke etc. Until it finally stuck.

I was wondering how hard was it to quit when you found out you where pregnant, since myself had to quit a couple of times before it stuck? Or is it different when you know it’s hurting someone else besides yourself? Or where you not able to quit smoking?

I quite, started again after I had my son.
I did have a few cigs here and there while pregnant. Not gonna lie about that. It is very hard.

As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I quit entirely. Although I wasn’t even smoking a pack a day, it was still pretty hard.
I’ve had really bad urges to pick one up and smoke on the days where I’m feeling really stressed out and overworked, but I don’t.
I don’t want to hurt my baby!

I was unable to quit smoking. Luckily there appears to be no affect on my baby since a recent ultrasound. I did cut down though which is very good because I was smoking 1.5 packs a day and now it’s about .5

I was an occasional social smoker before I got pregnant–I only craved cigarettes when I had alcohol. Since I was no longer drinking, it was almost too easy to quit the cigs. I was never really addicted in the first place. Both hubby and me are alcohol and smoke free and plan to stay that way from now on due to his family history of addiction.

I tried quitting when I was pregnant, but I just didn’t have the willpower to completly stop. I smoked about 5 or so cigarettes a day the whole time. Not proud of it…but my son is completly healthy.

With my daughter, I actually quit the DAY I got pregnant, ironically. I had sex with her father one time and had decided that day to not smoke anymore, and found out 3 weeks later I was pregnant. What luck. I had been a pack a day smoker for 10 years at this point too.

When my daughter was about 2, I started to smoke one here and t here socially if I was drinking, which amounted to less than 10 cigs a year, so it was not a big deal when I found out I was pregnant with my son to not smoke. I would never put poison into my baby. That is NOT a necessary habit, unlike if a person had to take medication for depression or diabetes and would have to weight the risk to the mother vs. the baby and choose to stay on the medication not. Smoking is hard to quit, but if the person has willpower, its totally doable!!!!

When I got a positive HPT with my first I quit then and there and never started again.
Was it hard? Yes, but 100000% worth it!

I quit 6 months before we got pregnant. Was really hard but we were trying to get pregnant and I didn’t want to go through that while pregnant.
Congrats to all the ladies who stuck with it!

I actually made the choice to quite a couple of days before I found out we were pregnant. I don’t think it would have been much of a problem though because my nausea was so incredibly bad the smell would have made me quit anyway.

    Congrats and good luck:)

I’ve never smoked but I drank Diet soda way way too much. I was addicted just like a smoker. It claimed my stressed.

I quit drinking soda the day my husband and I decided to try to get pregnant. 2 months later, pregnant. I was glad I gave up soda before coming pregnant!

So its not smoking but still an adiction.

    Congrats on stopping smoking!
