I have insomnia and the only thing that works is marijuana, does marinol work as well as MJ?

I have had insomnia since 2nd grade and I have tried many many different methods to help me sleep. I have been prescribed sleep aid such as ambien and lunesta; these put me to sleep but the side effects are intolerable( I experienced loss of memory of the night i take it and it made me suicidally depressed if I was under any sort of stress). I have tried warm milk before bed, hot soothing tea, hot showers before bed, rigorous exercise during the day, light exercise a few hours before bed(20 minute jog), herbal medicines and remedies, listening to soothing music and sounds, and anything people have suggested to me. Although some of these helped me sleep of them worked well enough to allow me to get a good nights sleep consistently. I just would lay in bed staring at my ceiling for hours and hours until sleep would come if it ever did. I eventually became so desperate that I took my friends advice to try smoking marijuana before I went to sleep. This is by far the best sleep aid I have experienced. I am now stuck between a rock and a hard place because I have to sleep but I do not want to have to resort to illegal self medication just to be able to get a good nights sleep. Another factor in this is that I have ADD and ADHD and I am prescribed vivanse( a more refined version of aderall) and it is the main reason I cant sleep. I sleep so so on the weekends when i dont take it and I would stop taking this medication if I could afford to. If I don't take it I cant get any work done in school. during my freshman year of high school I tried to do school without my medication and my report card had nothing higher than a C on it and I failed Spanish with a 13% grade.( my 10th 11th and 12th grade report cards were all a GPA of 3.5 or higher. I have 3 questions: does marinol( synthetic THC) work as well as Marijuana, can I get prescribed marinol for my insomnia, and if marinol doesn't work can I get a Marijuana card for insomnia. also if you have any other suggestions for sleep aid please let me know. I also have tried many alternatives to my ADD medication such as concerta, aderall, ridllin, and other medications that have been know to help ADD such as wellbutrin and zoloft. I know my spellign of those is terrible but i just sounded it out so work with me. I also know this is a repost but I feel as though I put it in the wrong category,

Get off of all the drugs and also marijuana. Stay away from caffeine completely. Try taking Zinc, Magnesium and Calcium. Vitamin World's Omega 3-6-9 added to this is also good. all of these will also help you with your ADD. take the Calcium before bed, the others in the morning. also staying away from bread and sugar will help.

You should consider visiting an Acupuncturist for treatment of you ADD and insomnia. while the insomnia is a direct result of the ADD medication, stopping your medication seems to directly affect your abilities at school.

An acupuncturist, combined with the use of Chinese herbal medicine, can help to adjust the way your mind works, enabling you to have better mental control for concentration as well as helping to relax and get a better night's sleep.

The ADD and Insomnia pattern is very typical and it is important for you to take the necessary steps to balance your body appropriately, resolving both issues.

Wean off lightly from your ADD medicines by lowering the dosage every week. take instead a homeo medicine 1] natrum mur 30 pills – 4 pills chewed per day once every 3 days . this will also give good sleep patern and act as an ADD medicine . for continuation go to a good homeopath.

I have Parkinson's and have great problems sleeping. Medical marijuana has been a godsend for many symptoms and improved my quality of life dramatically. If you don't want to smoke it there are many healthy ways to use it such as baking with it. Google medical marijuana and insomnia and look at the research. Don't listen to knee-jerk opinions from people who have'nt done the research – academic and practical. good luck and sweet dreams….
