While expensive hypnosis worked really well for me. Also… drink LOTS of water! Lots and lots and lots, it really does help. For some chewing cinnamon gum really helps too. I’m not sure why, but you might try that.

the nicotine patch works really well, pick a date to be quit by, have some support to back you up.

The best way to get rid of a bad habit is to replace it with a good one. I smoked for about 4 years and tried quitting many times and could not. I only quit when I began to eat healthy and work out on a regular basis. Now I drink at least a gallon of water every day and eat good, healthy meals every 3 hours. I am crazy nuts about my nutrition and exercise…better to be a work out junkie than a smoke-a-holic.lol

That worked great for me, plus if you are active with running or biking then you really don’t want to smoke because you will hurt your lung performance. Just find a good healthy habit or hobby that can keep you busy and you mind off smoking. GOOD LUCK…you can do it.

Sunflower seeds are one way but the way my Dad quit who had been smoking for 20+ yrs was toothpicks

Yes, toothpicks, when ever he got a craving he would just go through some toothpicks. And I can confirm the 3 day hump myth is true about smoking. If you can go 3 days straight w/o smoking you can do it. You may get the ccasional stray craving after a week, but from there its gravy..

Also I wouldnt however advise quitting cold turkey go from a pack a day to Day 2: 10
    Day3: 6/7
    Day4:4/5
    Day5: 2-3
Day 6-7: Only when you REALLY need it

And then just stop, after about 10-15 days, I would say you are in the clear.

there are a bunch of helpful ways to quit smoking..unfortunately, some methods work for some people, while others may need other types of help[.. yes munching on sunflower seeds, or salted in the shell peanuts work too.. i tried most every method to quit during the last 5 years of my 40 year smoking career.

the good news is that i did in fact fins something that worked for me.. i found that for me a support group was what finally made the difference.. i attend nocotine anonymous meetings both locally, and on line.. on line voice meetings are as close as your computer , and your welcome to attend before actually attempting a quit..
