Go for a walk and think about what you are going to do with all the money you are saving.
Just stop. I smoked almost 4 packs a day when I quit in 1995. After the first couple days, it wasn’t bad. Tapering doesn’t work.. Good luck..
Cold turkey is a good way to quit. Stay busy. Chew sugar free gum. You will be surprised how much money you save. I quit two months ago, and smoked 1 1/2 packs a day.
Stop cold turkey!
Snack on celery & carrot sticks; cut straws in 1/2 & suck on them (smokers are used to inhaling more oxygen than nonsmokers); suck on sugarless hard candy. Drink lots of water. Break habits of times when you used to smoke…if you usually have a cigarette with coffee after a meal substitute tea or something else. Go on line to Amer. Lung Assoc. They may have some tips.
Good luck to both of you.
It is a combination of thoughts and feelings coupled with the act and habit of smoking that has created this belief…
Most people smoke because they say it calms them down. In reality it kicks up the body due to oxygen deprivation to the brain which causes the heart to work harder…
In reality…one leaves an area or the stress they feel to go have a smoke…It is used as a justification but is not the true cause of the stress or anxiety…
That comes from within, how you feel…
Positive affirmations and support. Create small goals, take walks and form of small exorcizes to help stimulate the “feel good” receptors in your brain while distracting your mind.
Play scrabble or whatever you choose to like and choose other healthy things to do…
Drinking water 8 to 10 8oz glasses a day or Gatorade, V-8 help flush the body, and get the kidneys and livers to work better which helps flush the body even more…
When you get anxious and start Jonesing, ask yourself why you choose to feel anxious…
Prayer and meditation also help to calm the nerves with breathing exorcizes…in through the nose, out through the mouth…stay focused only on your breath. Nothing else.
Inhales should be complete but not…overboard…With ever inhale, imaging you are inhaling positive energy and with every exhale, negatives are leaving…
As you do this, allow yourself to relax. Start with your toes, to your feet, legs, thighs groin, stomach, back, neck face and head…
