What are some good things to do to help you quit smoking?

I’m going to get my bf some patches but it is also a habit for him to have his cig breaks outside so he needs to be able to do something els in that time to keep himself occupied. What are some things you have done that have worked?

One of the most important things I learned when I quit is that when you feel sad that you can’t go outside for a cigarette break…. you can just go outside for a break.

People think that cigarettes help relieve stress but it’s really the breathing exercise that you do while your smoking that makes you feel better. So when I quit, I took cigarette breaks, but would just walk outside and take deep breaths for ten minutes. It sounds silly but it helped with the anxiety that I couldn’t smoke or I had to avoid situations where I would normally smoke.

Nothing really works, because it’s a chemical dependency. Chewing gum or sucking candy are about the best, but still pretty lame.

BTW, tell hm to get some Chantix rather than the patches. The patches aren’t very effective. If he doesn’t want to get a prescription, he should get the Commit lozenges, they’re nicotine replacement therapy like the patches but have a higher success rate because you can adjust the level of nicotine. With the patches, you’re either OD’ing or craving. They suck.

Do not smoke at all,or telling him frankly to quit,it’s no interest of harming the lung and the whole body organisms.
