Successful ways to quit smoking cigarettes?
I have been smoking cigarettes for two years. I have tried to quit six times in the past six months. None of these times have been successful and I am sick of this habit. I am just asking for people to share their stories on what they have done to successfully quit smoking. I’m going to try and quit again, and i need all the help i can get. Thanks!

Swear that evertime you smoke you will stick a lit cigarette up your vagina.
I quit “cold turkey” and I smoked 30 years.
1. Quit buying them, get them away from you.
2. Stay away from people who smoke. If they’re around you, you’ll bum smokes.
3. Brush your teeth whenever you get a craving and chew gum. Cravings only last a few minutes.
4. Repeat every day. I was amazed how easy it was. The first day is the most difficult, then every day gets better, but you can never ever have a cigarette again. I thought I wouldn’t be able to quit because I really enjoyed smoking, but I did. I had started Kundalini Yoga classes and it requires that you breathe and I couldn’t, so decided the smokes weren’t that important after all. Good Luck! Remember it’s not difficult if you get on a healthy regimen and really start loving your life.
God – cigarettes are horrible, aren’t they? EXCEPT on that morning when you really want a cigarette -a and off you go again.
There’s some good non-smoking drugs now. I’ve heard some surprising things about how well they work even for LIFE-LONG smokers. But if you can’t afford anything like that, you can get a package of Beachnut chewing tobacco – it’s very mild tobacco leaves – and when you can’t stand it anymore, you can chew up a little piece of that. It’s a great quitting-smoking drug – and it’s cheap. A little chewing tobacco is only about 1/100th as poisonous as cigarettes!
Anyway – just keep quitting. Your very delicate lungs will thank you EVER so much!
More Anti-Tobacco Programs is needed for Medicaid Recipients.Recently scientists found that not enough help and actions are received from Medicaid programs in West Virginia, which has the country’s highest smoking rate. They declared that the state’s Medicaid plan is both too confusing and too restricting when it comes to proposing smokers a chance to quit. Some smokers may have three varieties at trying to quit smoking, including nicotine gum and a patch. Some of them may have more, depending on which Medicaid plan they’re part of.
Actually, each case is unique. It depends on the smoking stage, amount of willpower, motivation and so on. Once I managed to quit completely. I haven’t smoked for 2 years and started again just because of break off with my boyfriend.
I have developed my own theory – how to quit smoking and described it in my blog. If you have few minutes you look it through. I hope it won’t be the waste of time for you.
Hi there Elizabeth
I am 20 and have been smoking since I was 16. My mother is 49 this year and has also been smoking since she was 16. I found this product that has helped both her and I quit smoking traditional cigarettes entirely. It’s the electric cigarette from greensmoke. It is a battery run “cigarette” that looks and feels like you are smoking a regular tobacco cigarette, but without any of the chemicals, tar, ash and odour! The tip of the “cigarette” really lights up and when you exhale you breathe out what looks like cigarette smoke (It is actually just water vapour and some flavour). So you still get the illusion of smoking. You recharge the cigarette by plugging it into your computer, your electrical socket in the wall, or even your car!
There are quite a few brands of electric cigarettes out there. But in my research and trials I have found greensmoke to be the most “real” and satisfying product. My sister bought a cheap version on-line and I tried it when I went to go visit her and hardly any “smoke” comes out and it wasn’t satisfying at all! and guess what! she’s still a smoker so it obviously hasn’t worked for her either. I will have to introduce her to this now that I’ve have found a good product.
How it works is instead of “burning” the nicotine like a traditional cigarette. The e-cigarette contains an atomizer that vaporizes the nicotine instead. So you still get your nicotine hit. The greensmoke electric cigarette comes in a few flavours including Tobacco, chocolate, vanilla, apple, coffee and strawberry. It also comes in different strengths just like a regular cigarette so you can get 8mg or 6mg or 16mg etc.
In the long run you also save money. The initial purchase of the battery part is $49.95 American. and then you need a charger etc. You can simply purchase the starter pack for about $150 American and it includes 2 electronic cigarettes, the charger and 5 extra cartridges (the filter part). The e-cigarette is under warranty as well so all you ever need to replace is the filter cartridges which last about as long as a packet of cigarettes. They cost about $15 American for a pack of 5. That’s equivalent to roughly 5 packs of cigarettes which would usually cost you around $60!! So it works out to be a lot cheaper.

I basically ended my habit with a month 1/2 worth of HEAVY smoking of bidis ( indian cigarettes) and the concern of my over-all health .before that my main choice was menthol’s cigarettes. If im not mistaken i stopped smoking tobacco the beginning days of this past March. Which will make a month already. Once anyone picks up a smoke after wanting to quit it will be considered starting all over again . So if i were to picked up a smoke today , then it would be starting all over again .
I would try to do some kind of subtraction of your tobacco consumption of a course of time. Its not one bit easy. When you do quit for a certain period of time agitation will kick in so try to keep yourself occupied.Take a nice soothing shower with a new soap or body wash . Read a book/magazine/newpaper with a scented candle on .Play a video game with or without a friend . THe first couple of days will be tuff. I read somewhere online that a extra 200 calories will be added to the bodies system so try to keep that in mind . Think of the way you picture yourself quitting then just do it !
