Should I quit smoking for good?

I’ve been smoking now for two weeks. I’m able to quit whenever I want but the reason why I smoke is because if I get depressed I start to smoke. So I told myself that myabe it’s better to start smoking because of my depression instead of drinking beer. So I bought a pack and I’m about to run out. Should I go out and buy some more. I have the will power to stop smoking altogehter but I get depressed sometimes during the week like at least four or three times a week and I want to know if smoking helps. And should I keep on smoking if it takes my mind off of my depression? I smoke cigarette’s and I’m also a chain smoker. And I like the idea of dying so I want to keep smoking for the next 20 years until I get lung cancer and die from it. Is this normal and is smoking ok? And I’m thinking about smoking a pack a day.

This is definitely NOT normal……….go to your doc and ask for Wellbutrin, it’s an anti-depressent and helps to stop smoking as well!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!

You should have NEVER started smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend tried to stop smoking numerous times – it never worked. Finally, the cost drove him to go ‘cold turkey’ and has never had any problems since then.
Smoking causes lung cancer – without a lung you don’t breathe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, you ca either quit smoking and try other, better medication to treat your depression, or you can smokle until it kills you and you won’t have to worry about the depression…. Frankly, I’d go with option 1….

if you are considering using this way to die..your are taking a slow, painful, and expensive way. and depression can be temporary – so should you ever want to quit in the future – it will be hell and you will hate yourself for ever starting. and it will add to all your other problems and probably make depression worse.

oh – and don’t think your gonna just get cancer and die.
it could be like 10 years of suffering so good luck with that

I wish I could quit, I have tried many times. It is a very expensive, unhealthy habit. And where I am from it is now considered anti-social. So, yes, quit while you are ahead.

everyone here is an anti-smoking nazi. don’t expect to get a variety of answers.
personally, i would. is it right? probably not, but i am in almost the exact same situation and when i feel depressed smoking has always helped. if you want to be a chain smoker that’s fine; i don’t recommend it, its too much money, but if it what you want, its up to you. and yeah, the dying thing is pretty wierd.
