Polo mints – they worked for me.

    Good luck to your mum.

Tape a big picture of a deseased lung on the fridge (Might help her lose weight too!)
Cough deeply anytime she lights up.

    Well you asked.

Honestly, I would try to be supportive, and you may just want to stay out of her way a bit. It can make people very very uptight. Maybe bake her some kind of snack? Or ask her to take a walk with you, exercise helps, and she won’t even realize she is doing it. You are a good son.

Good for your mom! The things I found most helpful were having lots of healthy snacks available – carrots, celery, apples, etc. – drinking lots of water and herbal tea, and getting plenty of exercise. When I really had a craving for a cigarette, I would head outside for a brisk walk. I also chewed a lot of sugar free gum.

Give your mom lots of positive reinforcement and treat her to a nice scented candle or some body lotion. I was amazed at all of the new smells I noticed once my nose wasn’t clogged up with nicotine! Best of luck to her and good for you lending your support.

    * What helped me most when I quit was not buying any more cigarettes. NOT BEING FACETIOUS. The first step is not having them around.

    Two pronged attack:
(1)Watch your MoM smoking very intently…Let her realise you are watching. Tell her you will do the same.
    (2) Tell MoM that her Best Man friend ,…giving Name…
told you that He loves{likes} your MoM only when she is not smoking

Watch the magic…Do not bring your Father-Brother in to this Action Plan…Do it alone…You will succeed. Best Luck.

I used an online counter and used message boards for support. Sugar free candies or gum may also help. Good luck to your mom! (You can find many message boards by going to google, your mom will be able to find one she fits in with)

Get her to take up a new hobby, something to keep her busy. Her life will be different to how it was before so she needs to do different things.

HI! Your Mom deserves congratulations! Tell her you are so proud of her and she can do it!!!! You are an incentive alone! She wants to be around a long time so she can be with her family! Tell her that her body and lungs as soon as she stops smoking already are making awesome changes! What about trying to replace smoking with something else like…not just mints or chewing gum, but a hobby. Maybe something different or challenging so she won’t have to think about smoking! Exercising! Being out with friends and dancing or whatever she enjoys doing. A support group for quitting smoking is great!!! She will feel so great she won’t want to smoke ever! Please don’t let her get stressed out…she will definitely want to smoke! Try to eliminate temptations! Please don’t try and harass her either she might get upset! Showing some pictures of what smoking can do will help. What about telling her about all the money she will be saving from quitting the habit and show her on paper! WOW, she will be so surprised and proud of herself! It is so nice you want to help her. I got my husband to quit. It was so hard, but the success is sweet! Your Mom rocks just for trying to quit…because it is the first and hardest step!!!! :)
