Is it possible to get most of lung capacity back after you quit smoking?
Are able to breathe like you did before you smoke? I know good exercise will help heal your lungs too. also a good diet in vitamin A will help the lungs heal faster. so will quitting smoking, exercise and good diet will i be able to get close to my full lung capacity back?
Im 23 and have been a smoker for 10 years.
this is not about weight, It’s about breathing and strengthening your lungs. Also helping the lung healing process.

The answer is yes! This is reversible but don’t expect it to come that easy.
Diet is a key and as you suggested, cardio-vascular training is a must! Consider swimming as well as it’s a good cardio-vascular activity and also really great in increasing lung capacity.
I’m confident you’ll make it happen, just keep doing that and it’s only a matter of time.
Good luck.

I smoked from 1948 to 1989. In 1996, no impairment was noted, I was effectively in better shape at 65, lung-wise, than I was at 45.
Other damage, arteries, heart muscle etc. however, stayed there and has affected all my life activities.
If you are or were able to quit, congratulations. It’s really hard – I remember sucking pens for about 4 months!!
I started smoking at 13 also, and smoked till 25 about a pack – 1.5 packs a day (also, some pot in there.) I quit a few years ago when I realized I couldn’t jog 1/4 mile (at only 25 years old!) and I wanted to be an active person. Today I can easily run 10 miles at a moderate pace, I hike and bike, I recently climbed a mountain and this guy in our climbing group was sucking wind and I passed by him like nothing even though he was an experienced climber and a non-smoker. I am way fitter today, play soccer etc. So, yes, you can regain tons of lung function!! The thing is it took a lot of time, and I also did a lot of working out. There are some other things that help also, soy products, and mangos (or so I’ve read.) It’s been about two years since I quit. I still occasionally use pot, but I try to only use a vaporizer.
