Hypnotherapy.
My aunt actually works as a hypnotherapist to help pregnant women stop smoking. She has a very high success rate.
You should speak to your doctor about it
put a picture of a baby on your pack, and everytime you reach for one, you will see it and hopefully it will make you not want one!
its a tough habit!! I know from exp… i quit in 2005 If you try to picture your little baby smoking every time you do it may help, also when you smoke during pregnancy you are implanting a gene that can potentially cause kidney cancer (i researched for school once upon a time ago) Hope this helps… get lots of snacks ready and gum and keep your hands busy otherwise i dont know what else to tell you and i wish you luck
Just quit. It’s going to stink and it’s going to be difficult, but it’s what is best for both you and your baby.
Plenty of poeple quit cold turkey. My Mom did, and even my husband did. You just have to suck it up and deal with it. You are stronger than nicotine.
The biggest tip I can give to you is think of your baby. Do you want your baby to be born sick, or even stillborn just because you enjoy smoking cigarettes? Of course not. Think of that, and you should be all set.
Good luck!
get an oboration
You could buy the nicotine patch. You just need to focus really hard and every time you are thinking about having a cigarette you have to think that you could be damaging your child. You can also remember that once you have quit smoking you will save money because you are not buying the cigarettes. Good Luck!
Did the doctor tell you why you should quit, the specific things that can happen to your baby? That right there did it for me. the long term side effects and defects you child can get are horendus. Think of it as what you are doing for your baby:) GOOD LUCK and congrats on the little one!!!
ok for starters I’d be changing doctors cause if a doctor told you to use niccotine replacement therapy he needs his head read.
hypnosis would be a good one to try, or just try cutting down so your not smoking as much. if you really want to quit , you will. As an ex smoker myself, it’s a matter of wrapping your head around not smoking that’s the hardest. chew gum, suck a lolly, learn to knit, find something to keep you occupied and use cranberry juice or other antioxident drink to help rid your body of the toxins your body will start to expel when you quit. i was actually told to cut down not stop when i was preggers as the toxins and stress it places on your body could cause you to miscarry.
I smoked up untill i found out i was pregnant too, but if wasnt hard for me to quit at all..the minute i found out i gave my pack of cigs to my sister and i havent touched one since, its been kinda hard because my WHOLE family smokes..the only ones that done is my husband and me haha…but im doing okay because i kno what smoking can do to my baby, i really like the idea of putting a picture of ur baby from the u/s on your cig. pack…thats a really good idea..if u put ur mind to it…and just realize what every cig. is doing to your baby…hopefully u will beable to quit, u just need the will power…its not easy…but u will get through it…good luck!!
I think you should find some people who are in the same situation as you.
There are many boards for pregnant smokers , and they provide much needed support and info.
Here is just one.
Goodluck “mommy” and stay happy.
My mom was a pack-a-day smoker…when she got pregnant she cut her pack in half and hasn’t touched a cig since…try using pure willpower. You may be stronger than you think! Just think of what a great thing you would be doind for your baby!
Good Luck and you are making a great choice! Kudos to you!
If you want to quit, you can quit. Seriously. Mind over matter is a very powerful thing. Don’t let anyone tell you that you need all sorts of products in order to quit. Tell yourself that you are a strong person and that you can do it. I know people that have successfully quit by going cold turkey, and I know plenty of people who have failed or postponed quitting because of products. You CAN do it! (I believe in you!) And any time it gets really hard think good thoughts about your baby, try closing your eyes and take a few deep breaths (because people smoke to relax them), or you could think about people going cold turkey after a heroin addiction and remind yourself “well, could be worse” lol. Good luck! Well done for trying, my mum never did!
