I used to smoke three packs a day. I woke up on a Monday morning, I had one cig left in the pack. I looked at it and told myself this was the last cigarette I was ever going to smoke. That was in 1974 and I’ve never had one since. You have the power to decide that you want to quit. You can’t do it for anyone else. Always keep the promise to yourself.

The best thing to do when you are looking to stop smoking is to find out what options you have, and then decide which sounds best for you.

My mother died of lung cancer by smoking. Suffered greatly during the period of convalescence. She started smoking when she was 14 years old until the age of 65 when she died. Every since I got memory, I remember my mother lighting up a cigarette after cigarette and leaving them in any ashtray around the house without remembering where she had left them. My father, as welll as the rest of the family begged her to stop smoking. She always said she was going to quit smoking, but all the time she made up all sort of excuses before quiting (Memorable Dates, Christmas, New Year´s Eve, Easter, Summer Vacation, Carnival, etc), excuses after all. When the doctor diagnosed her with lung cancer, she was devastated, and my father as well as the rest of the family were inconsolable and suffering because of the sad news. The main problem with a person who smokes, relays on he or she being selfish, because they just think on themselves and not on others, they do not realize of how much pain and suffering cause on the love ones who have the responsibility to take care for the terminally ill during his agony. If you care about your family, stop smoking and do not let them go thru all the suffering of taking care of a terminal ill person. Go to the link below, it might help you. Good luck.
