I quit smoking cigarettes recently, how much time will it take bitterness in my mouth to go away?
I still have bitterness in the mouth. I know its nicotine. I try to chew sweet-gum, but the bitterness is still there. I am also drinking lot of water so that it dissolves and goes away, it has helped to an extent. But it still it feels bitter.
Any suggestions? I quit smoking cigarettes about a week ago.

It will take sometime
Hopefully it’ll be gone in 2 weeks. Have you tried sucking on hard candy? Like the red and white peppermint ones are great! Sore throat drops are also worth a try. Hall’s and Robitussin menthol flavor are pretty strong and may be stronger that than bitter taste.
You’ve made it through the hardest partâ–¬ the first 3 days! Congratulations! I know you’ll never go back to that stinky, filthy, expensive, and of course, dangerous habit! Be proud to say “I don’t smoke!”
Best of luck. That bitter taste WILL go away. Hang in there!
Try chewing sugarless gum. I know, it sounds terrible, but the sugar in the gum could prolong the effect of the nicotene. I think you’re doing a great thing by quitting! The first 3 weeks are the hardest, get past that and you are home free!
Not so sure but I have had families that smoked and died for cancer and have had to have an oxygen tank.
Keep up the work of quieting it is great
