Congratulations on reaching out and looking for answers. I recommend using support groups and read a lot of helpful info at: Webmd.com/ smoking-cessation/ and cdc.gov/tobacco/quit_smoking/ and at SmokeFree.gov to name a few. There are several ways to try without spending money & those products are SO EXPENSIVE, but so are cigarettes!! (and they do help with the cravings). I really I hate to say it, I had my rebellion about spending that much on them for a very long time. But they are equal to the expense you are now spending on cigs. I have quit “cold turkey” a few times in my younger days, and it did last several years. But I was able to quit this time after a 15 yr habit by using a nicotine lozenge (i wont say the name cuz it would be like plugging a product and I dont like to do that). It would take away the craving and I would spit it out when the craving had passed and used it again and again, saving on cost Yea!

    I personally haven’t smoked cigarettes…

But I did smoke Weed for 6 years.. and recently just quit.

I find that throwing away your addiction really helps; that includes throwing away your ashtrays, smokes, lighters, and anything that is associated with smoking.

    Get rid of it.

Once thats gone, you’ll have less around the house to remind you that you feel like having a smoke.

And when you do have a craving, find a piece of paper, draw your addiction on it, an rip it to SHREDS, while thinking of how happy you are that your doing that instead of smoking..

I understand that Weed is probably a little bit easier to quit, But that really helped me, and I know many people who are having a hard time quitting pot…

    And I did it.

    I thought I was addicted for life………………..

Short answer, but really, really helpful:

Try the book by “Allen Carr” !!! Maybe you’ve already heard about it, they say 90% of the people who have read that book quit smoking directly and never slid back ever since they quit.

I wish you all the best to finally manage to quit!

It’s one of the hardest things you will ever have to do. You have to have a good reason. What motivated me was my wife was pregnant with our first child and I thought to myself that I have a responsibility to be as healthy as I can be for my family. For some more tips

I would recommend trying the electronic cigarette.
proving to be very popular – no tar, no carbon monide; looks, ‘smokes’ and feels like a real cigarette.
