I just quit smoking weed. What can i do to keep myself busy and entertained?

I am 17 and have been smoking weed since 7th grade. I was smoking 8-10 times a week, and recently went cold turkey. I really want to quit permanently, but i’m not sure what i can do in my free time to keep me from reverting to my old habits. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, I know the stuff is nice to have, but really in the long term you are doing the right thing. Why not put some of those unused brain cells into action? You have a computer, READ, fill your head up with knowledge! Anything that even remotely interests you, all of the things you supposed and wondered about when you were high.

    Good for you for quitting.

What you can do now is take up a hobby: start playing a sport at the Y, or pick up a musical instrument, or join an after-school club, or become more active in church, etc. Any activity you can take up with new friends should help you stay away from old friends and old habits.

Sit down when you get a chance and make a list of things you want to accomplish (short term, long term, whatever). Think of things you’re interested in or would like to try and go from there. Maybe you can get some friends together and play sports or video games and have tournaments the same time each week, something to make it fun and exciting. Or maybe you could build something? You could always read (it doesn’t have to be boring reading, go find a book about something you WANT to read about- sex, drugs, rock and roll- seriously though there are great books about all of those).

The key is finding something you like or are good at. Just doing anything to take your mind off smoking usually works.

There is more than one way to get high. I go mountain biking during the spring, summer and fall and snowboard in the winter. The nice thing about biking is that its relatively cheap once you get a bike. An adrenalin rush is a great feeling, and you can’t get cancer. Good luck

THATS GREAT THAT Y0U QUIT (:
try going to a library. i know reading isnt for everyone, but just pick a random topic you may be interested in and find a book on it! maybe a how-to book. then you could start a whole new hobby!
i also recommend taking up a sport or gym membership. it will inspire you to stay healthy [as in not do drugs] and can be a great way to meet new people!
