I just quit smoking and i keep gaining weight!!!! Ever since i quit I always want snack food?
To keep me distracted from smoking, i just keep eating and i’ve gained a ton of weight.
What are some foods i can snack on that have very few calories? That way i can eat these foods a lot! I’m really running out of ideas.
Thanks for your help!

I quit smoking on March 31 2009. I have also been struggling with my weight. This is what I started to do, and I think it works.
At the grocery store they sell 12 ouce bottled water usually by the case. Every single time you start to get the urge to snack. Drink the full icy cold 12 ounce bottle of water. And then wait like 5 minutes and see if your still hungry.
Hi Dee..
as a matter of fact, many folks gain a little weight, when they quit.. there are a couple of reasons for this.. first of all, there are subtle metabolic changes, that temporarily favor gaining weight.. the other is simply this, along with the ability to sense smell, taste returns, and food just tastes a whole lot better..
whatever you do don’t use this as an excuse to pick up cigarettes again.. it was stated to me, that unless one is morbidly obese, the health benefits of of not smoking, far out number the risk of a few pounds ..
people in support groups often use the saying the “weight can wait” and the common experience is, that its temporary, and natural.. I have however, heard a couple of suggestions.. many of us keep veggie munchies handy, ie carrot sticks, cut celery, etc… sunflower seeds, and in the shell peanuts, are other favorites.. the latter keeps your fingers busy too..good luck on this quit..
in the previous paragraph i mentioned support groups..i know in my case, a support system not only helped me quit smoking, but has been big part of me remaining abstinent… we routinely talk about, day to day to issues, such as weight gain..i have found their ongoing support crucial to my new life..
I am a member of Nicotine Anonymous, and attend meetings both locally, and online.. online meetings are as close as your computer, and your welcome to attend while still smoking, or already quit..

at the first time when you quit smoking,it will gain weight.if you do some export , you will lose your weight.
Carrots and celery?
BTW, it’s healthier to gain some weight than it is to resume smoking. But if it’s any help, I found that a lot of the weight I’d gained when I stopped came off in the course of the following year.
