Before you can help him he have to want to quit. Try having a series talk with him about him really wanting to quit, before you even begin to try to help him.

You can help ease the transition by being there for your brother and helping them to get through the withdrawal stages. You can also encourage him to join groups that help smokers quit smoking. Offering assistance with smoking cessation, Stop Smoking Clinics help with behavioral counseling as a means of breaking the psychological dependency smokers have on tobacco products. Clinics are typically run by trained nursing staff who are trained in smoking cessation counseling by the American Lung Association.

Well you can try a different approach!!! Instead of telling him he needs to stop, show him a way to stop. My girl just gave me a pack of electronic cigarettes and they work awesome. i can smoke them any where plus there is no smoke and no bad breath. These are def better for him than smoking real cigarettes. check them out and good luck

Simple answer is you can’t. Other than inform him on what he can do to stop and what will happen if he doesn’t there is little you can do. He will only quit when he is ready to.

Tell him this “You spend so much money on this stuff. You should spend it on *something he loves goes here* Did you know, there is gasoline, paint led, even worse things in cigarettes! Your my only brother, and I can’t let your life slip away because of drugs.”

As a former smoker, I can tell you unless your brother wants to quit, he won’t.

Smoking is a pchyological and physical addition. Quitting is very difficult espicially among young people because they think the health effects will not be harmful to them yet.

The best you can do is tell your brother you love him and want him to be around the rest of your life. Also, remind him that many girls do not like smoking and find it repulsive.

    Good luck,
