How do I get someone to quit smoking?

My mom smokes after she gave it up for about 5 years. I’m really not sure what to do because when I tell her she should stop she more or less just says piss off.
My dad died from lung cancer about 2 months ago (he didn’t smoke but his cancer was known as smoker’s cancer) and I don’t want to lose my mum as well. They had been divorced for a number of years before his death.
Please help. I’m 16 btw

you can’t get someone to quit smoking. they have to do it for themselves, and no one can make them want to but themselves.
You can’t just get someone to stop smoking. IF it we’Re that easy eVeryone would stop iF we asked them to. You can giVe them Reasons why, but you can’t make them just stop. I was on the VeRge oF becoming addicted to smoking, but when my FRiend Found out she had canceR, it made me Realize what a stupid mistake I was making. They need to open theiR eyes themselVes, I know it sucks but you can’t do it FoR them.

i would have to say best way is for her to decied to or to get her in somewhere that will make her stop but unless she choices to they wont help.
it may just be me but by what u said it sounds like she also may know have maybe a death wish or something has her really stressed out and the smokeing helps it.
best to just keep trying to talk to her. i wish u the best of luck and hope i didnt ranbol and was totaly useless.
it will be hard, but try to convince her to switch to e-cigs maybe. she can still smoke, but it’s so much better for her and will save a ton of money.

You could tell her that once you’re 18 and in college, that you don’t want to ever see her again, or something like that. Tell her that you can’t live with the fact that both of your parents died from lung cancer. Tell her she’s committing suicide.
