Help me people, how can I get motivated / ready for Monday, the day I start eating healthy and quit smoking? ?

I weigh around 300 pounds. I’m tired of being full all the time, overeating, smoking so much I can hardly breath, aching bones, feeling so aesthetically inadequate, and well there are a lot of other things, but I won’t bore you. When these unhealthy feelings dissipate how can I not justify going back to where I came from?

Don’t give up and just keep trying. On monday keep your promise and start your new healthy living plan. When you feel better about yourself just look at yourself and how good you feel and then remember how you felt before and ask yourself if you want to feel like that again and use it as a motivator to stay healthier. You have a long journey ahead of you but one you should start to see results in fairly shortly. Just remember you might hit a plateau and it seems like your not going any farther, but keep it up and eventually you will push through. Good luck all the best to ya.

You may need to find someone to help you, A friend of mine got everyone she worked with to put in so much money and after 3 weeks whoever had lost the most weight got all the money. That worked as she lost 14 pounds!
    Money is a great motivator.
Also though, just having somone there telling you how great your doing is SO helpful.

Smoking is something that has soo many things out there to help, the patch, gum, there’s a surgery out there now you can get. I still recommend getting someone to do it with you, or maybe a group of people.

well today is saturday right? so you have two days. whatever you do, do not go on a food and cigarette frenzy. dont just eat as much as you can and smoke as much as you can before monday. try to reduce your limit and gradually quit. when you eat, eat healthy (one starch, one meat, fruits and vegetables). let fried food go until you get your weight under control. find out why you smoke and control….like for most people its stress related so find out a better way to deal with stress. go walking a mile everyday, speed walking, until you get ready to jog. and if you feel really tired speed walking then stick to normal walking until you can get adjusted. so begin now. good luck.

Hey I’m doing the same thing I’m quitting all of that stuff beginning New Years Day as well. I’m just going to force my self. I weigh a little more than you do. I’m going back to the gym as well and when biggest lose starts again I will be watching it as it is a motivating show to see those people drop massive amounts of weight. If they can do it trainer or not we can do it. I do not do well on carbs so my diet will consist of protein whole grains as the whole grain bread and pasta will not make you tired or leave you craving more. Make sure if you buy it you do not but whole wheat pasta or bread it is not the same and will make you tired as well. I will be increasing my water as well, getting support from family and friends and weighing myself regularly. Hey have you tried the elyiptical at the gym it’s extremly difficult and the first time I only lasted 3 min. but now I can do a half hour straight. The treadmill is harder on the knees than this machine so they told me to do this one. One time I quit smoking for ten years with me cold turkey is better as there is no just cutting down. I quit coffee at the same time as the two go together for me but for some that is too hard to take it all on at once. Get a friend who needs to do these things too and workout together. I’m determined to do this all and you can too. Good luck to you and God Bless!

First of all, I really congratulate you for giving it a go :)

Secondly, give yourself little goals to begin with, especially if you’re doing this on your own! Start with the weight first, because once you start to feel healthier, the smoking tends to fade away natually. Maybe start with eating only healthy dinners for a week or two. Then make it healthy dinners and lunches, then so on and so on.

Just make it a GRADUAL process. A lot of people fail because they expect too much from themselves, and when they dont get results they give up. If you want to make PERMANENT changes, you need to do this slowly. Give your brain/thought pattern time to alter.

Brainwash yourself. Write yourself little notes/mantra all around the house (always postitive thoughtful notes) or in your car, or at work, especially on things that tempt you.

If necessary, join a weight loss club. You can even join one online so that you can talk about these things and get instant support.

God luck to you buddy! :)

Hey man, I think you should tackle one thing at a time. If you just all of a sudden go on a diet and quit smoking and start exercising all at the same time I think you’ll go into shock. Especially if you’re young I think your weight is probably the number one thing. If you start exercising and losing weight you’ll probably have much better stamina even if you smoke. Also, quitting smoking makes you eat more so it’s really not something to do in combination with a diet.
