Has anyone ever used “The Patch” to quit smoking?

I have been smoking for 13 years and I want to kick the habit, I am thinking about trying the patch. Has anyone tried this method and if you did, did it work for you and would you recommend it? Thanx for your help!

I’m not a smoker but I know people who have quit.

My daughter tried the patch and it didn’t work for her. She finally quite using Zyban, which again is not for everyone, but did the job for her.

Congratulations about making the effort to quit. Best of luck with it.

My mom was able to stop smoking from using the nicotine patch. She smoked for over 40 years. She has been smoke-free for over 4 years now!

I have heard that the patch works good. For me, it was just pure willpower. I smoked for about 12 years and finally decided that I did not want to smoke anymore. I made up my mind to quit and stuck to my guns. It is the best decision that I have made in my life.

Good luck! Congrats on the decision to quit smoking!

i dont smoke but everybody that i know that does smoke and tried the patch, it didnt work for them. it just made them want to smoke more after they tried that. and i suggest not to do the laser either because one of my friends used to smoke 2 packs a day and after he did the laser he smokes 3 packs now. with the laser you have to keep going back every time you feel like smoking which is a waste of money.

I have used the patch and I find that I still craved a cigarette. There was a report on the news this last week (CBS) that they have found that the cigarette companies have increased the nicotine levels that “keep” you. These target teen smokers and long time smokers (the one brand I remember is Marlboro because that is what I smoke). I know that the patch(s) start out with 10mg and go down with the program. Check with the American Heart Assoc., they have programs and get their opinion. Good Luck and I hope to join you soon in this battle to win!

To quit smoking is like getting rid of any habit. A change of lifestyle is required. I smoked for over 35 years & quit cold turkey but have many friends who did use the patch & are smoke-free to this day.

Go to this site & read about quitting. Education will be the key to a successful quit. There are many there that use the patch.

I tried the patches but they didn’t work for me. Then I looked at the lozenge and started on them, 12 weeks later I was smoke free!! It has been 5 months now since I had my last smoke. Best thing I have done in years. Still have the cravings every now and then, but not bad enough for me to grab a smoke.

    I was a smoker for 14yrs.

    Good Luck
