I don’t smoke but my dad went cold turkey when he was younger, he’s got great willpower. My mum on the other hand…

My husband and I both did. (At different times.) We had both been smoking for at least 20 years, 1-2 packs a day. He quit first with no problem. I mean nothing!
10 months later I was ready to quit. You have to have the will to quit. And you can’t “try” to quit. You just quit. All it took for both of us is the will and willpower. This was over 12 years ago!
For me, the first 3 days weren’t great, but not horrible either. I chewed a lot of gum. After that, it was really easy!
It sounds like your time has come! You can do it! WILLPOWER! Be proud to say that you don’t smoke!
Best of luck to you! :) :)

It is certainly possible. I did it. Just stop buying them. It’s all mind over matter. Just keep telling yourself all the reasons you don’t want to smoke anymore. It gets easier every day.

Dude I just got one of those electric cigarette things today and it really seems to work, the smoke feels like a hit off a cig. I would recommend trying one of them. The cravings also go away.

    Yes, I do·

Yep I quit cold turkey but it took the right mindset to do it. It’s not that you need to pay bills and get extra money – that’s not enough reason for anyone to put down the cancer sticks. Not even saying cancer sticks is a good enough reason!

Here’s what I know and how I quit:

Smoking does nothing for you except replace the last cigarettes withdrawal. Meaning every time you smoke you replace your nicotine level and then it goes down and your body needs more, then you smoke again and replace it – and repeat again. That’s all it does for you – replace your nicotine withdrawal.

It doesn’t help you cope with life or have better emotions of happiness. It doesn’t help you gain more energy or relax. It doesn’t give you courage to do something or the ability to concentrate…you do that on your own AFTER you fix your withdrawal stress that blocks you from doing those things.

That’s the reasons people think that the cigarette helps them do those things – because, smoking always occurs at the same time you deal with the emotions or stress – but the only reason they occur at the same time is because you have to fix your withdrawal feeling before you can focus on the actual emotion or stress yourself. If anything the cigarette is blocking you from feeling your own emotions cause it’s overpowering them with the withdrawal. And the withdrawal is ‘fixed’ after just one puff so the rest of the cigarette seems like it’s helping you cope because the withdrawal is over. But really you are just breathing in poison that is hurting your body.

So basically all you have to do is use common sense and see what it’s really doing for you and then take the information and run with it. Your common sense is what will help you quit.

The book talked about at the site below is how I quit smoking and everyone I know has quit from reading this book as well.
