Expired Bupron help me quit smoking?

I have been smoking for 14 years and my mom recently passed away with lung cancer. I am determined to quit, but it is really hard, especially with 3 young kids. I have a 2 month supply of Bupron Sr 150, which is suppose to be Zyban. The package says it expires 02/2010. If I take this pills do you think they will help/harm me? Please I need help! I don’t want to turn out like my mom.

They put early expiration dates on all drugs, but only a few really expire. 6 months over is no problem with Zyban. Good luck with the smoking quitting.

You should be fine…despite the expiration date, most medications are potent for quite some time after that. Bupropion (same med as what you have) completely eliminated my urge to smoke – though I take it for depression. I would advise you however to consult a doctor before you start taking the pills – just to make sure you don’t have some condition or are taking some other med that would cause a reaction with the Bufron. Be aware also that there can be some side effects with your med.
