I was a smoker before I found out I was pregnant. It’s hard to imagine that there is a little person inside you forming more & more each day – especially when you aren’t showing yet. I quit smoking the day I took the test. Cold turkey no patch or nicotine gum.
I have to tell you though, It made it easier when I saw the ultrasound. That little heart beating took my breath away!! Try reading about smoking during pregnancy in any books about pregnancy that you may have OR check google.
I would take advantage of the fact it makes you sick. As you get more morning sickness they will probably make you throw up or get the worst case of morning sickness after even a single drag that you will just not want to feel that yucky. That’s how I quit. I gave it up imediately, but after a few days when the niccy fits started I went out to “steal a drag”. After about two drags I puked all over and that was that! I didn’t like feeling so badand haven’t smoked since!
get some will power and do it for your baby, you’re a mother now!
ha one day in december cigarettes started making me gag. i had no idea why but iwas a smoker and continued smoking. then at the beginning of feb i found out i was pregnant. i quit cold turkey becuase i know its the best thing for my baby. it was very hard. my boyfriend still smokes and sometimes i am very tempted to smoke but it can really cause damage. my cousin smoked through her pregnancy and ended up having her baby 2 months early which put her baby in alot of risk and danger. i dont reccomend smoking again after the baby is born, but i advise you to atleast quit during your pregnancy.
i know its hard and there isnt really any magical pill to help you quit but if you care about your baby, you have to do it
yes u can do it
think that hell smoke is going inside ur body..and that may affect ur unborn baby….
if u really love ur baby then u hav to quit it in any cost…
Good luck.
If it’s making you sick enough you will quit.. I too have been a smoker… and still occasionally smoke sometimes.. it’s truly hard to quit… but the pregnancies where it made me sick, even just the smell, made it easier to quit.. If you can’t totally quit at least decrease the amount you smoke… I’d also talk to the doctor and maybe there is something you can use to help you quit… it’s better to quit sometime during pregnancy than not at all.. Congratulations and best wishes on your pregnancy ♥
I was a smoker also when I found out… It made me a lil nauseated , but I couldn’t quit at first. I cut back to just one a day for the first 3 months. I know I know horrible. But It is SOOO hard… I got an ultrasound at 16 weeks and actually got to see my little girl and haven’t taken a puff since!!! Once you get to see that lil baby inside of you it really will hit you that everytime you take a puff so does your baby. My doc said its Not TOO horrible the first few months, but once the babies lungs are starting to develop it’s like she is smoking also! It literally took me a week of not smoking to get over it completely. I smoked for 7 years too… and after now I can’t stand the smell of smoke . Thanks to my lil baby!!!
Just cut back a little at a time, until you are at zero. You may not even get past the whole cigarette, which is ok. That’s part of the process. Don’t try cold turkey, or you may be back smoking sometime again.
YOU NEED A DOCTORS HELP BECAUSE THE BABY IS ADDICTED AND IT COULD HURT THAT CHILD TO PUT IT IN WITHDRAWELS. I KNOW MY BEST FRIEND SMOKED FOUR PACKS A DAY DURING THE PREGNANCY AND ONLY COULD GET DOWN TO THREE A DAY. THIS IS SOMETHING SERIOUS AND YOU NEED PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE IN THIS. NOW. THAT BABY IS TOO IMPORTANT AND IF YOU DO THIS WRONG YOU COULD REALLY HURT THAT CHILD.
GOOD LUCK

ew i know exactly what you mean, when you crave it so much but the smell and taste is SO BAD. i feel for ya, i quit cold turkey as soon as i got a positive but what REALLY helped, it spearmint gum. Spearmint gum, for me, made my mouth taste better and it was easier for me to crave that instead of the cigarettes. I havent had one since i found out i was pregnant and now i dont even want to have one, my husband still smokes and it reeks so bad i make him take a shower before bed because im so sensitive to the smell. good luck!!!! you could also ask your dr what they think, maybe he has some professional tips for you to try. =)
Here is a sure fire way to help you. You love your baby right? Of course you do. My cousin never quit smoking her whole pregnancy, she just decided that “cutting back” was good enough. Her son was born with breathing difficulties. He is now 8 and has asthma as well as nasal problems that made it hard to understand him when he was learning to talk. He also has to take breathing treatments every night before bed and can’t be around smoke at all. He is now suffering a lifelong problem because of her decision to smoke. I know it is hard. I was a smoker myself. I was able to quit because of two things. 1: I wanted my baby to be healthy. and 2: Every time I inhaled, I gagged and almost threw up. Eventually that will get to you. It’s not worth the unpleasantness of that. Trust me, your body thinks you need it but your mind has the power to say, NO I DON’T NEED IT!
