Can I use nicorette while pregnant to help me quit smoking?

I’m trying to quit but keep screwing up when I get very stressed out, so wouldn’t it be safer to have nicorette handy instead? Please no start remarks because I was smoking 2 packs a day and I end up smoking 2 or 3 cigarettes a day. I know it’s bad but it’s hard to stop cold turkey.

Doctors say no but i’m sure it is better than smoking. I quit when i first found out I was pregnant and then my doctor told me she thought 5 a day wasn’t so bad so i started again but if i haven’t quit by 30 weeks i am using patches! It’s gets harder the further along you are =[

    All the best xx

It’s not ideal obviously, but it is better than smoking. Good luck, I know how hard it can be.

I’ve actually heard that it’s better to ease off of smoking rather than going cold turkey when pregnant.

But I would just ask your OB. They would know better than me.

You shouldn’t be smoking while pregnant.

You probably shouldn’t but if your pregnant you can get the shot either. I’m not sure its better them smoking since it goes straight into the blood stream. I would call and ask your doctor.

Talk to your doctor about this one. Congratulations on your effort to stop smoking. Going from 2 packs a day to 2 cigarettes is a great improvement. It’s very important to stop smoking when pregnant because it deprives your child of oxygen. The oxygen you breath in gets circulated through your blood to the baby & smoking cuts that nearly in half. So you can imagine the brain damage that is done by continuing to smoke while pregnant. Anyways, I would say nicorette is better than smoking…but like I said I would talk to my doctor. Good luck!!

Call your dr. I’m actually sure that it’s better than smoking because you’re not depriving the baby of oxygen. Just don’t chew the gum and smoke too soon after or before.
