Zyban or Champix to quit smoking – which is better?
My partner has been smoking a pack a day for 10 years and he really wants to quit but he gets so angry and irritated when he does and he doesn’t have the best will power. He has tried patches but he just started smoking again when he stopped using them. He has also tried hypnosis and the Allen Carr method but the cravings are too strong and his will power not great so he always ends up lighting up again. So I thought either Zyban or Champix might help him. Any advice from those who have tried either of these please? Did they work and were there side affects?

Neither since both have side effects. Chew gum is best.
i have just had to stop taking champix. I got really depressed and had suicidal thoughts after two weeks of taking it!
the drug it self was fine i was down to about 3 cigarettes a day, it really puts you off smoking, the thought of smoking, the smell of smoke. But the side effects are too great, i hadn’t noticed the moods myself, you can always put it down to something else.
i told my partner what i had been thinking re: suicide and realised then, i really must stop taking it. i had no reason at all to be depressed or suicidal at all.
i am not sure if i would recommend champix as everyone is different and hopefully your husband wont get the same side effects, but i think you should research the good and bad points/stories on the internet. Also discuss with a g.p
