Why do Christians do this?

I was having a discussion with this Christian guy about drug addiction….and he kept talking about the Word and the Spirit & about strugglin and about resisting temptation& about standing firm in Faith(& Blah blah blah)Hallelujah this and Hallelujah that and Amen to this and Amen to that…and i was telling him that i had heard and read about how people have went to a hypnotist to stop smoking…and it worked! I said *IF* that’s true and that *IF* that really does work…that:Maybe it possibly could work on drug addiction( to a major degree or to a minor degree) So instead of him saying “Sir,I disagree with you..HE Says: “Hypnosis? That’s of the Devil! That’s of the DEVIL!”
It wasnt just him that did that…..Different Christians in different times &places do that crap too!
Instead of saying “Sir,I think you’re wrong” or “I agree to disagree with you” THEY take your idea and say “That’s of the Devil! that’s of DEVIL!”
wtf?

Lol that’s funny, because hypnotherapy is largely based on the placebo effect (but also has some real stuff in there too), and prayer healing is ENTIRELY based on the placebo effect. I guess it become satanic as soon as you add some real stuff to the placebo.

because everyone else is wrong but them. you either believe in god or you don’t, i personally don’t, but if you do your hardcore about it and god is the only thing that can save you. even though that’s not true.

There is something in the Bible about helping people get a splinter out of their eye when they have a log in theirs.

We’re sorry you got so turned off by this guy. The truth about hypnosis (or drugs or alcohol) is that it lowers your mental defenses and can open you up to the influence of the kingdom of darkness.

  • the Christian says:

Maybe Gods trying to tell you something!…today is the day of salvation…accept jesus and live he is our only hope.

    God loves you….God bless

Indoctrination at work. They spout canned phrases because they do not have a thought of their own.

A lot of Christians think things they don’t understand or don’t like have something to do with the Devil. I can understand people being skeptical of hypnosis, it doesn’t work all the time, but it would depend on who was administering it, how it was done etc.

But when it comes to religion and health treatments of any kind; Christian Scientists think any medicine or medical treatment is wrong, Jehovah’s Witnesses believe blood transfusions are wrong. Different religious groups have different ideas about medical or psychiatric care. I don’t know the exact reason for his belief, if it comes from a church teaching or just his personal belief.

I think some people might be concerned they would do something wrong under hypnosis (maybe they want to do but don’t do because of beliefs).
