You don’t need any. Unless you want to go to magic school – as in, stage magic. Hypnosis is, as one great stage magician put it, ‘an agreement between the hypnotized and the hypnotist to imaging together’. It’s not real – people are just going along with your suggestions. There’s not any evidence that hypnosis helps people stop smoking any more than quitting on their own does. Try getting a psychology degree instead and actually helping people.

Well, you do need to go to school to become a hypnotherapist. If you don’t know how to induce the hypnotic state, how can you help anyone ?

Stage hypnosis and therapeutic hypnosis are very different.

There are many great schools out there. You can even go to a weekend certification program, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

There is no federal license requirement and only a few states have a licensing procedure.

I would look at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute. You can take their foundations course online, free of charge.

It’s a great school and it will also show you the many other uses of hypnosis. They have great courses on Law, ethics, and also advertising.

I use hypnosis with smoking clients all the time. I have about a 70% success rate with smokers that have tried to stop before. With those that this will be the first time they quite, 80%.

Behavioral modification along with a patch, gum, or medication increases your chances of quitting 90%.

    HMI’s website is http://www.hypnosis.edu

Hypnotherapy is a great career. You can help alot of people that can’t find help anywhere else.

    Good luck.

    Hello Amber

A hypnotist is a stage act – do you mean a Hypnotherapist?

Those who are hypnotised do not enter a deep sleep.

When I started studying I started at Amazon with a few good books – give that a try as it will let you know if your really suited to it, as it can be Very expensive to learn.
