Your Questions About Stop Smoking Help Online

Paul asks…
How to handle smoking/dealing teenager?
I have a 16 yr old step-son who will not stop smoking pot and even says he’s not going to stop. It doesn’t matter what we say or do he won’t stop. We have grounded him countless times and took everything away from him. We did tell him he is not to bring anything at all into our home b/c we also have a 2.5 yr old who idolizes him and I would go livid if my son got a hold of his brother’s crap. I just learned he is also selling pills (I don’t know what type). My problem is my husband tells me to stay out of things and to let him handle it. My step-son was acting suspicious last night on his computer so I checked it this morning where he left open his facebook and I found his messages he sent about selling pills, smoking pot, and other typical teenage boys activities. My husband doesn’t like snoops and says he won’t snoop on his kids b/c he feels it’s an invasion of their privacy and wouldn’t want anyone to snoop on him. He would be very upset if he knew I looked on his son’s computer even though I found what I found. I don’t know what to do. If I make an anonymous call to the police I have to tell them how I know all of this and by telling them will let out my identity. If I tell my husband it will only start a huge fight about my snooping. If I say something to his son he’ll only deny it and delete all of his messages (there goes the evidence) and change his password. He doesn’t have a printer hooked up to his computer for me to print anything and I don’t know his facebook password to access it on my computer. He deletes his history everyday so no one can see what he is doing online.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Please serious replies only and no criticism to me. I’m asking for help b/c I don’t know what else to do and am open to suggestions.
I appreciate everyone’s advice. If it were up to me his *** would go to boot camp for a few reasons but his dad won’t do it. I’m so sick of the negativity and disrespect from this little selfish punk but I do love him and want to help. My husband is a lot more lenient than I am and gives in to his kids easily (more than he realizes). All he would really do at this point is talk or threaten him which he has already done a few times and it doesn’t work. I just took pics of his messages with my cell so I will have some proof to show when needed. I know what the right thing to do is (turn him in) but by doing that would cause a major strain on my marriage.
I should note drug and alcohol addiction runs on his mom’s side of the family. She currently is relapsing again and had the kids taken away from her which is why we now have full custody of them. I’m guessing he’s getting the pills from her and she doesn’t know it b/c we don’t have anything here at all. I made sure of it when his problems first started.

Send his ass to rehab!! Smoking pot is illegal and so is selling pills!! Both punishable by law… Do the right thing and turn him in.. Its call tough love.. Maybe when he gets off probation or juvie he will see that is not the life he wants to lead.. Militrary schools work very well.
Best of Luck!

Betty asks…
I quit SMOKING! …kinda?
Okay, so I’ve been eating healthy and exercising everyday…and today, like right now, I just threw my pack of newport menthols away. I just wanna’ f’n get this over with. I tried quitting once, lasted about a month, but got back on it because of a friend who smokes. I started smoking when I was 15, was a casual smoker…about 1-2 cigs a day. Then when I hit 18, I started smoking a pack in 2 days and I’ve been smoking pack in 2 days since then (I’m 20 now).
But this sh*t is ending RIGHT f’n now. I’ve read loads of articles online but none of that really helps, I want personal advice and experience. I want to know, how big of difference will it be if i stop smoking? As in appereance, health, mood and such. I don’t have much of support since all my friends are smokers and do alot of heavy stuff besides that, and I’m trying to branch out of it. I live alone in an apartment so family support isn’t available. Will I gain ALOT of weight even if I eat healthy and exercise? Will there be any difference in my skin tone (It’s dull and has no shine) Will I go through depression? How did it turn out for you guys?
Sorry about the long ass post, any help is appreciated. I really want to go through this and be done with it. How did you ex-smokers keep your willpower up?
Thanks in advance

Werner Michael answers:
Ex smoker here to give you advice.
I was a heavy, very dependent smoker for many years. It did take me a few tries, but 3 things made the last try work.
1. Use a quit smoking aid. I used the clear patch and it worked very well for me. It was itchy and there were side effects (vivid dreams, insomnia) but in time, those passed.
2. Find Allen Carr’s book on quitting smoking. It can be a bit flaky, but take the point of what he is saying, and it will sink in.
3. Use this site. I never could have done it without it. (Its free). There are nurses to ask questions to, forums, mail, etc and everyone on their is quitting smoking or has been quit for a while… Some people many years. Its really supportive, informative and helpful. I can’t recommend it enough… So do take the time to check it out (and bookmark it!)
http://www.quitnet.com
Lastly, instead of carrying around the smokes you used to, carry a pack of gum and a water bottle. And realize that each crave only lasts 2 minutes… And the cravings decrease with each day.
Its better to be a non smoker… I never used to think that… But its true.
Good luck!

I think i might break up with my girlfriend because she does drugs ? I have asked her to stop but she didn’t !?
Hey everyone
So me and my girlfriend have been together for 3 months now, And like since we got together she has been smoking weed before that, But i never knew because she never told me, And like 1 month ago or something i asked her to stop smoking weed for me, And she said “Yes i will stop for you” but obviously she hadn’t, And the time in those months that she hadn’t smoked weed she was at sometimes and she said she was dying for some weed, But her dealers were dry, And she knows that i get pissed off when she smokes it, And yet she doesn’t/Hasn’t stopped yet, And today she told me like around 4:30pm when we were talking on msn and usually if one of us is going out somewhere we would tell each other before hand, But like out of NO WHERE she just says “I gotta go now hun. Byyyyyye I love you so much <3 Im going to my nans" and then when she comes back online like FOUR hours later shes stoned and i asked her what she was doing when she was out and she said “Walking, Smoking, In the park lol” Im really pissed off with her and i don’t want to break up with her but i don’t know what to do,
What do you think of my sitaution ?
And do you think i should give her the Ultimatium ?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me !
Thanks in advance

Werner Michael answers:
Either the pot is a dealbreaker for you or not. If so, then end it. If not, then accept her as a pot smoker and move forward.

Laura asks…
I am very serious about quiting smoking….?
I have tried to stop smoking in past and haven’t been successful. I have heard about all of these meds that can assist you in quiting. I have done some research online and have read all the success stories….I am just needing some more insight on what may have helped you or someone you know to finally kick the habit. I am very serious on quiting but I also know that i cannot do it cold turkey…..

Werner Michael answers:
What I did to quit smoking took quite a while but I finally kicked it. What I did is every 2 days I would smoke one less cigarette. So lets say on the 1st and the 2nd I would smoke 15 cigarettes both days. On the 3rd and the 4th I would smoke 14 cigarettes both days. Slowly but surely I got down to I think 4 cigarettes each day and I was able to quit. I didn’t have to go to 3, 2, or 1 each day. I think this helped me out because it slowly reduced the amout of nicotine in my system little by little and I felt very little withdraw effects after I was done. A good way to do this is to pick a month that you want to start quitting and write down how many cigarettes you smoke on a normal day on the 1st and the 2nd of the month and go down from there. This takes a whole lot of commitment and dedication though. I would like to say that it was easy, but believe me, it wasn’t. But in the end it was totally worth it.

Sandy asks…
side effects of smoking weed while preg?
can anyone give me a good site to show to a friend ? shes 4 mos pregnant, and smoking weed about twice a week. i keep telling her its bad and to stop, but she looked online and only found sites that say it really does no harm. so im doing my own search. any help would be nice.

Werner Michael answers:
First off, my sister in law smoked occasionally while she was pregnant…the kid is perfectly normal…theres not ONE thing wrong with him.
Secondly, smoking marijuana doesn’t cause any kind of mental problems that wouldn’t be already present in the childs genetics. Marijuana DOES NOT permenantly damage the brain. Personally, I don’t think it should be smoked by pregnant women…but it’s their choice, they’re adults.
Thirdly, I’m getting sick of seeing all of these ignorant people on here who are so ignorant to marijuana. You people treat it like it’s heroin or cocaine or some other soul crushing life destroying drug. Do some homework on it…oh wait..I’ll bet you are the same people who’ll go out to the bar and get black out drunk on the almighty LEGAL alcohol and puke, fight, flirt, and then get behind the wheel of your car and kill some pregnant woman who smokes pot once a week. Geez… Now lets see those thumbs down counts go up!
PEACE
