Your Questions About Quit Smoking Aids

Chris asks…
Why cant you use quit smoking aids when your pregnant?
Just curious, and asking for no particular reason. To me, it would seem good if you could use these at the start of your pregnancy to help quit smoking – why cant people use them?

Werner Michael answers:
Well, they say not to use them because there have never been any studies done of pregnant women using the nicotine replacement therapies and the safety of it, and there never will be. BUT – I’ve been told by a friend of mine who is a perinatologist that a pregnant woman is better off using the nicotine patch or gum than smoking cigarettes. There are thousands less chemicals in the replacement therapies than there are in the real thing.

Mark asks…
Any one know about effective quit smoking aids?
I am looking for some quit smoking natural ways and i heard about herbal cigarettes or electric cigarettes are they good enough and where can i buy electronic cigarette.

Werner Michael answers:
Gum, patch, etc. All have about a 7% success rate and that drops to under 5% after 90 days. Cold Turkey has slightly higher success rates.
Electronic Cigs can help get you off of tobacco but you are still getting the nicotine which is supposedly the hardest to quit. After using the e-cig for going on 6 months with decreasing amounts of nicotine – it is my opinion that being addicted to nicotine is NOT the worst thing in the world. I know that rolling out of bed in the morning, the first thing on my mind is NOT getting to my e-cig like it was with regular tobacco. It was hard enough to jump in the shower and such without lighting up first. Not like that with e-cigs.
I recommend you read some forums and learn more about them so you can make an informed decision.

Linda asks…
Two of the top quit smoking aids are NicRX and Smoke Deter?
Does anyone have a testimony on either of these products?

Werner Michael answers:
I don’t trust any quit smoking method that deals only with physical nicotine addiction. Drugs especially because they are potentially dangerous also. I personally wouldn’t go near the stuff, especially when there are so many other ways of quitting.
Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes. As soon as I dealt with my psychological reasons for smoking I quit, first time and more importantly for good.
Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.
Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums, herbs or drugs. These methods are expensive, time consuming, potentially harmful and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation, self belief and determination.

Sandy asks…
Best aids to help quit smoking?
Have you personally quit smoking cigarettes or known someone who has? If so, what if any quit smoking aids did they use to help them and in what manner were they used? I want to try my 4th attempt at quiting smoking and all input and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Werner Michael answers:
I had tried to quit smoking for about 5 years or so. The patches worked, but only for a few days or so. The only thing that ever worked for me was the new pill Chantix. It works by turning off the nicotine receptors in the brain. I didn’t even have the cravings for a cigarrete. The only thing that gave me trouble was the habbit of the motion of smoking. What helped me with that was suckers. Good luck. By the way, these pills are not covered by most insurance and costed me about $130 a month.
