How do I get someone to stop smoking?

How can I tell someone to stop smoking? She knows all the facts (it gives you cancer, emphysema, etc.), but she is young, so she still has that invincible mentality. What can I tell her about smoking’s cosmetic effects that will make her consider quitting? (besides the usual stains your teeth and your hands)

I want my dad to stop smoking, he smokes about a pack a day which I am certain is NOT GOOD. My whole family is stressed, any good ways? I feel like I have tried everything, even if he is relatively a good dad.

My best friend has started smoking, he says it calms him down when he’s stressed. I have asked why he started and he just said he’s had a rough life. I don’t want him to get cancer. He told me he would try to stop for me but i know that he wont stop and he cant stop for me he needs to want to stop. How can i help him?

Whats the best way to quit smoking without depression?

I am so ready to quit smoking but as stupid as it sounds I feel like quitting smoking is losing a best friend. I get so depressed when I try to quit which makes me start back. Any tips for quitting. The gum and patch just don’t work for me. I’d like to quit before it’s too late.

I knw I should stop smoking i wanna save my money and not look old before my time but how can i get to the point where i really really never wanna smoke again? Im not sure i really want to give up enough to stop for good?

Why does emphysema continue to worsen even if I stop smoking ?

Ok, I got it that smoking has most likely caused my emphysema and I got it that emphysema is a non reversible condition. But why does emphysema gets worse, even if I stop smoking ? Does that mean that emphysema is a natural aging process just that in most cases people die for other reason before they’re getting diagnosed with emphysema ? And if yes, why does an (diagnosed) emphysema then develops faster than under the “regular” aging process ?

How long are you addicted to cigarrettes once u stop smoking?

I started smoking when i was 14 or 15 off and on. Sometimes I’d stop for months but then I’d get this bad craving for them and start again. This is whats happening now. I’m nearly 22, haven’t smoked since January or February, and I am craving it bad right now. How long do you stay addicted to them, until you no longer care for them anymore? Its been nearly 6 months and I still have this craving.
